Even without superstar Kawhi Leonard, and crucial role players Danny Green and Patty Mills, the San Antonio Spurs were able to tie the Chicago Bulls’ record for most consecutive home wins to start a season. LaMarcus Aldridge led San Antonio to beat the Grizzlies 110-104 for their 37th straight home victory.
LaMarcus Aldridge had one of his best games as a Spur. He shot 12/16 for 32 points, his second-most this season. Aldridge also added in 12 rebounds and three blocks. The Spurs got off to an early start, putting up 37 in the first quarter by way of 17 from Aldridge.
San Antonio got barely enough from the rest of the team. Tony Parker was the second-highest scorer with 14; Ginobili and Kevin Martin had 13 each, and Tim Duncan scored 12 to round out all the double-digit scorers.
Memphis did all they could to hang with the Spurs, but missing their three best players definitely hurt them. Their leading scorer was JaMychal Green, who registered 20 on 10/18 shooting, just one point shy of his season high. Lance Stephenson had 17 points off the bench, and Chris Anderson had 13 points and seven rebounds.
The Grizzlies are off until Monday when they play host to the Spurs. San Antonio takes on the Thunder on Saturday and will be without Parker, Duncan, Ginobili, Aldridge (all rest), and Leonard (quad contusion).
