Duke Blue Devils head coach Mike Krzyzewski recently expressed how much he dislikes North Carolina’s House Bill 2 law, a bill that discriminates against the LBGT community.
“It’s an embarrassing bill,” said coach K to USA TODAY Sports. “That’s all I’m going to say about it.”
Those comments are coming after the University of Albany canceled their matchup with Duke because New York Governor Andrew Cuomo enacted a travel ban on non-essential travel to North Carolina.
Among other things, HB2 states that transgender people must use restroom facilities that correspond with the gender on their birth certificate, and not with the gender they identify themselves as.
Not just Krzyzewski is disgusted with what’s going on with North Carolina’s legislature. Mark Gottlieb, the head coach of men’s basketball at North Carolina State feels embarrassed on recruiting trips and he’s “appalled” by the law as a whole, saying “I don’t understand how someone can support this.”
