The Lakers have been virtually non-competitive this year. And everyone’s okay with that. With Kobe’s farewell tour, it’s more of a reflection on the past and all the great things he’s done for the franchise. However, it’s hard not to overlook the 48-point loss Los Angeles suffered to the Utah Jazz on Monday.

The final in Salt Lake City was 123-75, and the deficit ties the Lakers’ record that was set when they lost 142-94 against the Clippers in 2014. Rodney Hood had a very strong start to the game and shot a perfect 4/4 for 14 points in the first quarter. He led the way with 30 points overall, finishing just two points shy of his career-high.

All of Hood’s scores came in the first half as he shot 11/13 from the field and 8/9 from three. Trevor Booker and Shelvin Mack each had 17 points, and Rudy Gobert had a game-high 19 rebounds.

Los Angeles shot just 31% from the field, and Lou Williams was the only one who didn’t struggle. He finished with 16 points on 4/6 shooting to lead the team. Bryant shot just 1/11 for five points, and Clarkson and Russell combined for 17 on 7/29 shooting.

Both Bryant, and former Jazz forward Andrei Kirilenko were honored before tip-off.

Both teams are back at it on Wednesday night. The Lakers host the Miami Heat while Golden State travels to Utah to face the Jazz.
