Sacramento Kings point guard Ty Lawson missed a team flight to Kentucky last Friday, and the organization demanded an explanation. Stay tuned for updates.

Monday, October 17 – Lawson’s caught partying in Vegas

Sacramento was less than thrilled about their new floor general, Ty Lawson, missing the flight and exhibition game, but Happy Waters, Lawson’s agent, told TMZ that the team granted Lawson permission to miss the flight after he asked.

TMZ reported Monday that former the UNC Tar Heel was partying at Drai’s nightclub in Las Vegas that Thursday night with teammates Willey Cauley-Stein and Ben McLemore, along with boxer Adrien Broner.

A source close to the situation told ESPN’s Marc Stein that Lawson was late to a shootaround earlier that week, and “personal reasons” were why he missed the flight.

Lawson has battled off-court issues since coming into the league, which includes four arrests for DUI. Recently, after he signed his non-guaranteed deal with the Kings, Lawson said that he’s hurt by his bad reputation.

In 66 games with the Houston Rockets and Indiana Pacers last season, Lawson averaged 5.7 points and 3.6 assists in 21.4 minutes per contest.
