After a bit of a hiatus, LaVar Ball is back. And he’s coming at Lonzo’s teammates.

The UCLA Bruins didn’t win a national championship like LaVar guaranteed they would, but he will not allow his son to be the scapegoat for their loss. After giving up 39 points to Kentucky’s De’Aaron Fox in the Sweet 16, UCLA’s season came to close earlier than expected and Father Ball thinks T.J. Leaf, Bryce Alford and Thomas Welsh are to blame.

“Realistically you can’t win no championship with three white guys because the foot speed is too slow,” said LaVar to Clay Fowler of the Orange County Register. “I told Lonzo - ‘One of these games you might need to go for 30 or 40 points.’ It turned out the that was the one game. Then once they get to the Elite 8, they’re right there.”

It’s important to note that Fox was Ball’s matchup for the entire game and the Bruins’ inability to defend as a team played a role in their loss — yes, that includes Lonzo. It’s also important that Kentucky’s starting bigs were held to 10 combined points in that game. Welch and Leaf are both forwards

This is the most outrageous thing that LaVar has said yet because foot speed was never an issue when they were cherry picking, and Lonzo was able to launch a skip pass their way for an uncontested dunk. Furthermore, I’d put money on LaVar not making another egregious comment over UCLA playing a lick of defense because Steve Alford doesn’t believe in it, and their inability to lock down is what cost them the chance at a title.

Lonzo also could’ve done more to keep UCLA in the game as he finished with just 10 points on 4-of-10 shooting, but Fox did a great job disrupting the flow of the Bruins’ offense.

Now that LaVar is back to his regular self, who’s excited to hear him over the course of the NBA season?! I SURE AM.
